We explore the possiblities of VR as a tool for learning
Looking for an inspirational speaker for a seminar, congress or symposium? Robin de Lange regularly provides lectures on Virtual Reality and Mixed Reality for education and training. Before, Robin has given lectures at companies, libraries, municipalities, primary-, secondary-, higher- and vocational education, college and several universities.
Robin de Lange regularly gives talks and lectures on the following topics:
How will Augmented Reality affect your field in the next five years? That is the main question during this lecture.
With Augmented Reality, the digital world and the real world are increasingly mixing with each other. This provides spatial, intuitive interfaces that enable us to increasingly collaborate with computers. Think, for example, of electricians who are remotely supervised by experts on the other side of the country and international sales conversations that are subtitled. This is going to make us more productive, creative and intelligent than ever before.
With history in mind, we will look at the new tools that VR & AR (will) offer us. Does this allow us to solve problems in new ways? And what does that mean for your field of work?
Many people are enthusiastic about the possibilities of Virtual Reality as a learning tool. For example, to practice dangerous skills and to learn anatomy in 3D.
In this lecture, Robin shows that there are many more applications for all kinds of education. And that this does not always have to be expensive. You can also bring professional practice into the classroom to make the subject matter less abstract.
This lecture is based on the research of the VR Learning Lab and our workshops for professionals.
We provide programming education for primary school, secondary school and MBO students. And during our bootcamps, teachers learn to code for the first time.
By practicing programming and thinking about its applications, you’ll discover that you can play an active role in building the future. You’ll practice problem solving and learn important skills for your future work.
During this lecture we will discuss how we design our programming education and why programming is feasible and useful for (almost) everyone.
And we look at the biggest challenge: how do we teach a new generation to program, while the previous one didn’t?
Other lectures: Our Future with Augmented Reality; The Future of Human-Computer Interaction; Virtual Reality as a powerful tool for marketing & communication; New computer interfaces.
The VR Learning Lab complies with the quality code for training institutes for short vocational education, checked by the CRKBO and is therefore allowed to provide education exempt from VAT.

Robin de Lange (1986) is the founder of the Virtual Reality Learning Lab. He also teaches the Honors Class Our future with Augmented Reality at Leiden University, in which motivated students from different backgrounds develop AR or VR prototypes themselves.
Robin has an MSc. in Media Technology and a bachelor’s degree in Physics and Philosophy with additional courses in Artificial Intelligence. From 2014 he conducted research at Leiden University into Mixed Reality for education and productivity, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Bas Haring. He taught Human-Computer Interaction at Tilburg University. Previous courses he taught at the Honors Academy in Leiden are Learning through Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality & Human-Computer Collaboration.
Robin has been active as an entrepreneur since 2008, mainly in education. During his studies, he was the owner of homework assistance and tutoring company Bijlesstudent, which was successfully transferred (twice in fact). Robin contributed to the first Dutch MOOC on Coursera. He developed several apps and initiated the WaarneemApp, a platform for >2000 general practitioners in the Netherlands. He was the initiator and program leader of the Lyceo CodeLab. In 2016, Robin founded the Virtual Reality Learning Lab, which has been his focus ever since.
Robin’s presentations are never just a story. Particularly with VR & AR, experiencing yourself is so important. We are therefore always looking for creative ways to activate the entire audience. For example by:
We organize lectures, workshops and longer education and consultancy programs for all kinds of educational institutions and companies. Below is a selection of our customers:
The above descriptions form a basis for the presentations that Robin gives. In consultation with you, we will always tailor the content so that it appeals to the audience and is in line with your goals.
Robin deals with cases from your field and we choose VR/AR demonstrations that are relevant to your organization.
Some examples of our tailor-made lectures:
In his lectures, Robin shares the knowledge from his research and the experiences from his role as an educational innovator. With his background in philosophy and great interest in the influence of technology on our thinking, he tries to get his audience to new insights. His sessions are always tailor-made, interactive and humorous.
He looks at major trends, but also what they mean for tomorrow’s practice. Please let us know what you are looking for and we will send you the relevant information.
